Our license renewal services cater to a wide range of industries, including:
A Bahrain Commercial Registration (CR) is renewed each year, and the renewal must be filed on or before its due date. Renewal is done online through Sijilat, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC) portal, using an advanced eKey. If nothing about your business has changed, it is usually a short online transaction: confirm the CR and its activities, accept the declaration and pay the renewal fees.
Someone else can file the renewal for you under an official (notarised) power of attorney. Since October 2024, an ordinary authorisation is enough if the application is filed by an MOIC-approved professional office or by one of your own employees.
These are the steps on the government portal. When Fahdan handles your renewal, our team prepares and files it for you. If you are registering a business for the first time, read our guide to commercial registration in Bahrain.
Renew before the expiry date. Sijilat states that you can renew up to six months before your CR expires, which gives you time to sort out activity approvals or amendments first. A CR that is not renewed shows the status “Deactivated for Not Renewing the CR”, and you must stop trading until it is renewed.
| Stage | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Up to six months before expiry | Sijilat lets you renew from this point. | Check your activities, approvals, address and owner details, then renew. |
| On or before the due date | The renewal application must be filed before the CR expires. | Complete the renewal and payment. |
| After the due date | Sijilat shows “Deactivated for Not Renewing the CR”. MOIC treats trading in this status as business activity without a valid licence, and late renewal fines apply. | Stop trading and renew as soon as possible. Unlicensed activity can lead to administrative closure if a written warning is ignored. |
| Struck off for not renewing | MOIC can strike off (delete) a CR that is not renewed. This does not end the legal liabilities of the owner or the managers. | Apply on Sijilat to reinstate it. You pay the fees plus late renewal fines, which grow the longer the CR stays unrenewed. |
Tip: keep the contact details on your CR up to date in Sijilat, as the portal uses them to send you notifications.
Closing the business instead? Letting a CR lapse is not the same as closing the company, and being struck off does not end the owner's or managers' liabilities. If you no longer need the company, look at a formal company liquidation in Bahrain instead.
A renewal with no changes is usually handled entirely online through the steps above. Extra paperwork comes in when something has changed, when an activity needs another authority's approval, or when owner records are out of date. Check these before you start:
Renewal is a good moment to check that your CR matches what your business really does. When you renew, you choose which of the CR's activities to renew. Adding a new activity, cancelling one or changing your business location is a separate amendment on Sijilat. Start early if a new activity needs another authority's approval.
Besides preparing and filing the renewal itself, we can take care of the changes and government work that often come with it:

When nothing is pending, the online renewal is usually processed as soon as the fees are paid. New activities, approvals from other authorities, open amendments or unpaid dues can add time, so start well before the due date.
Often, yes. Renewal is filed online through Sijilat with an advanced eKey. If you cannot log in yourself, a representative can file for you under a power of attorney, or with an ordinary authorisation if they are one of your employees or an MOIC-approved professional office. Fahdan can prepare and file the renewal on your behalf.
Renewal fees are set by MOIC. The total depends on your CR and the activities you renew, and late renewal adds fines. Sijilat shows the renewal fee and any expected penalty before you pay. Book a free consultation for a quote for your CR.
The CR regulations allow MOIC to renew a registration for more than one year in a single application, with the fee paid for each year. This is subject to the rules for your activities, so check what is available for your CR before you renew.
Usually, yes. You apply on Sijilat to reinstate it and pay the fees plus late renewal fines, and MOIC may ask for documents or approvals again first. Amendments that took effect in October 2024 removed the old three-year limit on reinstatement, but the fines keep growing the longer you wait. Renewing on time avoids these costs.
No. According to MOIC, the industrial licence is renewed automatically with your Commercial Registration renewal. A factory's Industrial Registration Certificate is different: it is renewed separately through industry.bh, and its expiry date is aligned with the CR's.
Renew your business license on time and stay compliant with Bahrain’s regulations.
